Global Schools is an initiative led by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in support of UNESCO’s Global Action Program on Education for Sustainable Development. Its mission is to empower schools and teachers globally to educate students on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Global Citizenship. The vision of the program is to generate interest about sustainable development in schools in an effort to educate and engage students with the SDGs and Global Citizenship and to encourage them to prioritize the goals in their lifestyles, behaviors, education and professional careers as these goals provide a framework for a better world for children. The program aims to do this by transforming learning environments globally and making schools the hubs of education and leadership on sustainable development, ultimately becoming vehicles for empowering and mobilizing students and young people to help implement the SDGs in their communities.

The Project Officer, Multimedia Content Creator and Editor is a key position within the Communication and Marketing team of the Global Schools Program. We’re seeking a well-organized, self-motivated and creative digital communications individual to create content for a wide range of audiences. The Content creator will support our digital, social media and other communications platforms. The main responsibilities will be to develop graphics to be circulated on social media, support in the creation of event and campaign graphics, and support the graphic design of Global Schools reports and content. The Project Officer will also work closely with the team in developing public communications and branding awareness of the Global Schools Program, enhancing visibility and outreach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the Project Officer include but are not limited to:

  • Work on the development of visual and audio-visual communication (infographics, flyers, videos) for social media channels, webinars, podcasts, and events.
  • Work on the development and management of the YouTube channel.
  • Create original, creative and engaging graphics and audio-visual content for blog posts and social media, especially for Facebook and Instagram.
  • Assist in all types of editing and content creation, including reports and documents.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and management of the website; brainstorm new and creative pages for the website.
  • Ability to support other communications duties as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of sustainable development and a passion for the mission of Global Schools.
  • Passion for and prior experience in graphic design, digital marketing, and/or social media. Solid knowledge of designing for print and digital media.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with various communications and management software (i.e. Google Suite, Excel, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
  • Proficient in graphic design and photo editing software, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva. Experience with video editing software is a plus.
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment with high initiative and autonomy.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including writing, speaking and listening.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage several workflows simultaneously; ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and work proactively.

CONDITIONS

  • Location: This position will be remote.
  • Hours: This position requires at least 10 hours per week.
  • Training: The candidate is required to complete all online induction courses and complete the Global Schools onboarding process.
  • Supervision: This position is supervised by the Project Lead, Communications, of Global Schools.
  • Compensation: This position is voluntary (Unpaid).
  • Duration of Position: January 2023 - December 2023. This position requires a minimum commitment of 12 months, with a 3-month probation period.
  • Start Date: January 2023.
