Global Schools - Project Officer, Content

The Global Schools Project Officer team is a community of volunteers, educators, and school leaders working to enhance quality education globally.

Global Schools (GS) is an initiative led by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in support of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030 Roadmap. The Global Schools Program (GSP) is the flagship primary and secondary education program of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). GSP’s mission is to transform learning and give students the values and skills to succeed in an increasingly complex and challenging world. GSP believes teachers are crucial in the learning process, and provides teachers with free tools, frameworks, and training to teach sustainable development in the classroom; improve student skills; introduce the use of new pedagogical approaches such as active-learning and student-centered teaching methods; and improve the overall quality of education.
As a Project Officer for Content, your main responsibility will be supporting the production, publication, and promotion of Global School's upcoming Case Study Guide. Past Case Study guides showcase the stories of Global Schools Advocates who are implementing sustainable development projects and initiatives in school communities globally. The third edition of the Case Study Guide will not only serve as a toolbox for teachers, providing inspiration and ideas to carry out pilot projects/activities in their schools, but also it will be useful as a roadmap for deeper curriculum integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the Project Officer, Content, include but are not limited to:

Content Development

  • Work with Global Schools Advocates and other educators to gather Case Studies for the Global Schools Case Study Guide.
  • Work with the team to develop innovative ideas to showcase the stories and accomplishments of educators and advocates.
  • Develop, edit and revise written content for publication.
  • Support with the development and production of other educational materials as needed, including Activities Guides and lesson plans, to assist educators to more effectively deliver education on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

ESD Research

  • Collect and collate resources, frameworks, reports, and other relevant information that will shape the development of Global Schools content.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and other related educational frameworks, to support the team in envisioning and bringing the Case Study Guide to life in the best way possible for school communities.
  • Experience working with graphic design software, including Canva.
  • Experience as a teacher or working in school communities is considered a plus.
  • Passion for the mission of Global Schools, including the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills; prior experience in content creation, research, and launching publications considered a plus.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate and manage complex projects; ability to manage several workflows simultaneously, take initiative, and work proactively.
  • Ability to contribute at least 10 hours per week for this role.

CONDITIONS

  • Location: This position will be remote.
  • Hours: This position requires at least 10 hours per week.
  • Training: The candidate is required to complete all online induction courses and complete the Global Schools onboarding process.
  • Supervision: This position is supervised by the Project Lead, Content, of Global Schools.
  • Compensation: This position is voluntary (Unpaid).
  • Duration of Position: January 2025 - December 2025. This position requires a minimum commitment of 12 months, with a 3-month probation period.
